1. 작품 소개 _ About the Work
빛이 되기 위해, 그림자가 되는 사람들의 이야기
공연이 시작되면 무대 위 배우들은 빛을 받으며 이야기를 펼쳐냅니다. 그러나 그 빛이 존재하기 위해서는 어둠 속에서 묵묵히 일하는 또 다른 사람들이 있습니다. 바로 무대크루 입니다. 이 공연은 무대 뒤에서 일하는 무대크루의 시선으로 극장과 공연을 바라봅니다. 테이프를 붙이고, 소품을 옮기고, 조명을 맞추며 완벽한 타이밍을 찾아가는 과정 속에서, 우리는 예술의 또 다른 면을 발견합니다. 축광 테이프를 따라 걷듯, 무대크루의 여정을 따라가다 보면 보이지 않던 세계가 서서히 드러납니다. 테이프 하나에 담긴 간절한 바람, 어둠 속에서 만들어 내는 빛의 세계. 넘을 수 없는 선 앞에서 느끼는 여러 감정들. 이 모든 순간은 결국 하나의 질문으로 향합니다.
"우리는 왜 빛나기 위해 노력할까요?"
1인극으로 펼쳐지는 이 여정은 무대크루이자 관찰자로서 극장의 숨겨진 지도를 펼쳐 보입니다. 무대 위 첫 테이프를 붙이는 순간부터 마지막 테이프를 떼어내는 순간까지, 그 사이에 펼쳐지는 모든 이야기는 결국 우리 삶의 모습과 닮아있습니다. 누군가의 빛이 되기 위해 그림자가 되어주는 사람들, 공연이 끝난 후에도 은은하게 빛을 내는 작은 테이프처럼.
테이프 한 조각, 숨 한 번, 그 사이에서 우리는 세상을 지탱합니다.
이 작품은 무대 뒤 일하는 사람들의 경험에서 출발했습니다. 보이지 않는 곳에서도 아름다움은 계속 됩니다. 빛이 아름답다고 말하기 전에, 그 빛을 만드는 어둠을 기억해주세요. 이 이야기는 무대크루의 시선을 통해 예술의 본질을 질문합니다.
공연이 끝나고 남겨진 테이프 하나, 누군가에겐 새로운 시작의 빛이 됩니다.
A story about those who become shadows so that others may shine.
When a performance begins, actors step into the light and bring stories to life on stage. Yet for that light to exist, there are others who work quietly in the darkness: the stage crew. A Guide to Becoming Luminous looks at theater and performance through the eyes of those who work behind the scenes. As they tape the stage, move props, focus lights, and search for perfect timing, another side of art gradually comes into view. Like following the glow of phosphorescent tape in the dark, audiences are invited to follow the journey of a stage crew member and discover a world that often remains unseen: the hopes embedded in a single strip of tape, the universe of light created within darkness, and the countless emotions experienced while standing before invisible boundaries that cannot be crossed. Ultimately, all of these moments lead to a single question:
"Why do we strive to shine?"
Performed as a solo piece, this work unfolds as both a personal journey and a hidden map of the theater, revealed through the perspective of a stage crew member and observer. From placing the very first piece of tape onstage to removing the final one after the performance ends, every moment in between mirrors our own lives. They are the people who become shadows so that someone else may stand in the light—like the small strips of glow tape that continue to emit a faint light long after the performance has ended.
A single piece of tape. A single breath. Between the two, we hold up the world.
This work emerged from the lived experiences of those who labor behind the scenes. Beauty continues to exist even in places that remain unseen. Before speaking of the beauty of light, we invite you to remember the darkness that makes that light possible. Through the gaze of the stage crew, this work asks fundamental questions about the nature of art itself. When the performance is over, a single piece of tape left behind may become the light of a new beginning for someone else.
